As a teacher of over 40 years experience I am deeply shocked and offended by this comment made by the Ministry. Thank you Sarah for bringing this to our attention.

I remember my mother putting a huge amount of effort into staying ahead of teaching trends and doing assessments, from the mid 1960s until she retired in the 1980s. Twenty years of keeping up with maths and reading, doing courses and extensions.

Thanks for the factual, thoughtful piece.

Thanks for this clear write up. Unfortunately this government can’t seem to sneeze without deception.

What did we do to deserve them? I honestly don’t know.

Appreciate the heads up on the issue.

Thank you, Sarah for offering a counter narrative to the current deceptions. Unfortunately the gullible and naive believe these tales which constantly undermines the profession.

Let's get these words out there, do our push back!

An in depth well stated comment on what is one of the worlds best literacy programmes.

The success of reading recovery was well documented yet undermined by one professor from Massey.

Teachers can be proud of their success in reading and literacy.

Great article. Yes, let's not forget all of the regular literacy PD that teachers participate in over the course of a year to stay abreast of best practice.
